 One of the greatest interpretative tours de force of Totò, led by Steno with a direction (and a script) that offers him five possibilities to show his comic faces characterized by physical tics, nostalgic manias, rude exuberance and even an episode in female roles (voiced by Carlo Croccolo). In each scene the protagonist manages to come up with a brilliant idea: from the violent caricatural extremisms of General Scipione, an unstoppable nostalgic of the fascist era, to the snobbish colors of a noble viveur of Galeazzo. All he needs is a wig, a pair of mustaches or glasses to change his skin, face and psychology and stage, in total freedom, moments of pure comic happening. Despite the irresistible freshness of the comedy, the plot is a confused collage of sketches that are not always up to par, but Totò's eclectic strength and some twists are worth the watch.
